# Sharing and roles

Inviting someone onto a schedule, choosing what they can do with it, and what happens on the invitee's side.

## Inviting

From **Settings › Sharing**, the **MEMBERS** section lists who has access (you included, marked **owner**). Right below, **INVITE** offers a role menu — **editor — changes everything** or **viewer — reads only** — and an **E-mail (optional)** field, then **Invite…**.

- **An e-mail already known to PalmaPlan, whose owner has confirmed the address**, becomes a member right away, with no link to pass on.
- **An unknown e-mail, or one whose address has not been confirmed yet** (or the field left blank) creates an **invitation**: a link valid for **seven days**, shown on screen to be copied and passed along by hand; if an e-mail was given, the link is also sent by mail, and a notification is placed for the invitee if their account already exists.

A pending invitation shows up in the same list ("*e-mail* · *role* · expires on *date*") with a **Revoke** button.

## What the invited person sees

The link leads to an **Invitation** screen:

- **If they're already signed in with the right account**, one click is enough to join.
- **If they're signed in with a different account** than the one the invitation targets, the screen says so plainly — "This invitation is for *e-mail*; you're signed in as *other name*." — with a **Sign in with another account** link.
- **If they have no account**, the screen announces it ("*Who invited them* invites you to edit the schedule '*schedule name*'. Create your account to accept.") and offers a form — name, e-mail (already filled in if the invitation carried one), password, confirmation — whose submission **creates the account and accepts the invitation in a single gesture**: it's the only way to create a PalmaPlan account, there's no open sign-up otherwise. The person lands directly in the shared schedule, with the given role. An invitation link does not prove their address, though: a confirmation e-mail goes out at once, and until they follow it, only the schedules shared with them open — a banner reminds them.

## What the role changes

- **Editor** changes the schedule just like the owner (blocks, rows, columns, comments, closures…), but can neither delete it nor manage its sharing.
- **Viewer** sees everything, can't change anything.

**Revoke** (on an existing member, or on a pending invitation) removes access right away.

## Transferring ownership

Still in **Settings › Sharing**, **OWNERSHIP › Transfer ownership…** opens a menu to pick an existing member, then **Confirm the transfer** (or **Cancel**). The text warns: "You'll stay an editor on the schedule; only the new owner will be able to share, publish or delete it." — the transfer makes the chosen member the owner, and drops you to editor on that particular schedule. An account can't close itself while it still owns schedules — see *[Account and data](/docs/en/compte-donnees/)*.

## What happens when you get it wrong

- **An invitation sent to the wrong address**: **Revoke** it before it's accepted; the link stops working right away.
- **The wrong role was chosen**: re-invite the same e-mail with the other role — an existing member changes role with no new invitation needed.
- **An invitation link opened while signed in with the wrong account**: the screen says so and offers to sign in again, it never grants access to the current account.

## What this page doesn't cover

- **Publishing a read-only address, with no account needed**: a different gesture — see *[Publishing](/docs/en/guides/publication/)*.
- **Editing together on the same schedule at the same time**: see *[Exclusive editing](/docs/en/guides/edition-exclusive/)*.
- **Seeing who did what afterwards**: see *[History and Compare](/docs/en/guides/historique-et-comparer/)*.
